TA Announces TAPS Funding Incentives
In 2012 Taekwondo Australia will be offering 54 TAPS sparring and poomsae athletes development funding incentives to attend camps and international tournaments to improve their skills. Athletes and their Instructors will be advised next week of the athlete's individual offers.
For developmental funding purposes TAPS athletes have been placed in the following categories based on their TAPS rankings. Poomase category criteria is slightly different in that athetes scores at the 2011 Nationals were also taken into account.
Gold (total 10) ~ 1-5 top females and males
Silver (total 10) ~ 6-10 top females and males
Bronze (total 10) ~ 11-15 top females and males
As a broad indication, the following funding incentives will be made available.
* indicates that a Camp is also being planned for this trip; # funding for the Sparring Camps also takes into consideration athlete travel and accommodation costs from their home state.

Taekwondo Australia currently has several Poomsae and Sparring camps and seminars scheduled for the development of our members. Unfortunately we have had to close registrations for the Melbourne Sparring Camp on December 11 due to it being sold out.

The US Open will be held in Las Vegas from 21-24 February 2012 and several of our state divisions are organising to take teams to the event. Costs are in the vicinity of $2,500 ~ $3,000, inclusive of airfares, accommodation, meals and entry fees.

Community TV Fight Night Coverage
The Hong Kong Taekwondo Team is coming to Australia on 3 December 2011 to do battle with the Aussies at the 2011 Fight Night. Represented by some of Australia's and Hong Kong's talented taekwondo fighters, this is a night full of entertainment not to be missed.
Australian fighters include: Caroline and Carmen Marton, Cem Kahraman, Daniel Safstrom, Arthur Giannakarios, Mario Stanic, Jai Manahoran and Brodie Sciberras.
With $5,000 in prize money on offer, the Fight Night has attracted the interest of Melbourne Community Television C31 who will televise the fight on Tuesday 6 December 2011 at 9:30pm.
